Root CA Certificate
When you install our root certificate you will probably get some kind of security warning, like the one in the image below:
The key thing here is to ensure that the reported thumbprint of the certificate matches the actual thumbprint of our root certificate which is:
AF735F04-43E1BB24-47AEB03A-C2FE013F-F9B7E66C
If the thumbprints match you can safely install our certificate knowing that you have downloaded the correct one and that it hasn't become corrupted or replaced by malicious third parties.
Q. But why install your root certificate at all?
We hope that you will use your free certificates for securing your web server or e-mail, or simply for encrypting files. We also hope that you will tell others about our free service. As you interact with websites and e-mail users that use our certificates you will be prompted that the certificates aren't trusted unless you install the root certificate. It isn't essential, but it's annoying to be prompted all the time so it just makes sense to install our root certificate for when you tell your friends and colleagues about our service.
